CPR (Basic & BLS) & First Aid Instructor Course (8-hours classroom/ 8-hours teaching)
(must have a CPR [BLS level for those becoming BLS instructors] & First Aid card issued within 1 year) |
The prerequisites to becoming an instructor candidate include the following:
- Is at least 18-years-old.
- Possesses a CPR (BLS if wishing to teach that level) and First Aid card issued within the last year, or demonstrates equivalent knowledge.
- Successfully passes a written and skills examination at the beginning of the class.

The steps to becoming and instructor include the following:
- Pass the pre-course written skills & exam.
- Complete the instructor candidate course.
- Demonstrate teaching skills to peers in class.
- Monitor 2 full classes, observing the instructor’s teaching & presentation styles (optional).
- Participate by teaching one or more sections of the class you are observing (optional).
- Be monitored by a current instructor at a full course (mandatory).
- Present the proper proof of insurance.
- Receive certification and authorization to instruct CPR & First Aid classes.

| BLS for Healthcare Provider Renewal / Challenge (must bring your UNEXPIRED certificate to class) |
To qualify for this class, your BLS certificate must not be expired. Your current BLS certificate must be turned in at the class.
Includes the following:
An optional video review at the beginning of class
A written test
A skills test (if written test is successfully completed)
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certificate valid for 2 years
