BASIC CPR (adult/child/infant) with AED & BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification

Includes the following:
How and when to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Caring for a conscious and unconscious choking victim
Steps to take to protect yourself and your victim from disease when performing CPR
Use of the AED (automated external defibrillator)
The Good Samaritan Law and how it relates to CPR
 

*Medical & dental professionals & students receive the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider which includes additional training in the following:
How and when to perform rescue breathing
Use of the Bag Valve Mask breathing device
Performing the jaw thrust
2-person CPR
Application of Cricoid pressure
Written & skills testing

2 year certification card

Quick reference guides and charts
Protective face shield for practice

Total time = 2-4 hours

Basic First Aid (adult/pediatric) Certification

Includes the following:
How to control severe bleeding and how to apply a pressure bandage
Prevention and care of "shock"
Treatment of fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations
Principles of splinting
Care for all types of burns (chemical, heat, electrical)
Treatment of insect and animal bites and stings
Signals of, and care for, allergic reaction and poisoning
Recognition and treatment of sudden illnesses (including heart attack, stroke, asthma, and diabetic emergencies)
Treatment of temperature-related emergencies (heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hypothermia)
Care for seizures

Also includes:
2 year certification card
Manual
First aid kit checklist
Illness & injury assessment records

Total time = 2-4 hours

Covers the following topics:

Infection control in the childcare setting
Policies & procedures to implement to prevent the spread of illness

Total time = 7 hours

CPR & First Aid Instructor certification (must have a CPR & First Aid card issued within 1 year)

Objectives:
The purpose of this course is to enable candidates to teach basic-level AmeriMed CPR (adult, child, and infant), AED & First Aid courses for lay responders.

Prerequisites:
18 years of age or older and certification in CPR and First Aid received within the previous year. Candidate must also demonstrate proficiency in basic level skills and pass a written test at the beginning of the class session.

Certificate valid for 2 years

Course Length:
8 hours of classroom instruction and practical application, and 2 individually arranged monitoring sessions at an AmeriMed course.

BLS for Healthcare Provider Renewal / Challenge (must bring your UNEXPIRED certificate to class)

To qualify for this class, your BLS certificate must not be expired. Your current BLS certificate must be turned in at the class.

An optional video review at the beginning of class
A written test
A skills test (if written test is successfully completed)

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certificate valid for 2 years
