These courses combine online instruction with hands-on skills practice and skills testing.
Each online course takes approximately 1.5 – 2.5 hours.
The in-person skills practice & skills assessment can take between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.
The online portion may be done in the comfort and convenience of your home and at your pace.
The in-person skills session may be scheduled at our La Mesa location for individuals and smaller groups, or conducted at your facility for a minimum number of participants.

Scheduling Your In-person Skills Assessment
Once you complete your online course, please call 619-469-7109 to schedule your in-person skills assessment.
Skills assessments may be scheduled during regular business hours any Monday through Friday between 9:30am and 3:00pm.
COURSE FORMAT & DESCRIPTION
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online is a self-directed course that uses interactive lessons and videos to teach you comprehensive First Aid, CPR, and AED knowledge. This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card. Childcare Providers may also take this option. Please indicate to us if you are a childcare provider to ensure you receive the correct online course access key. In this course you will learn:
- First aid basics
- Medical emergencies
- Injury emergencies
- Environmental emergencies
- Adult CPR and AED use
- Adult choking
- Child CPR and AED use (optional)
- Infant CPR (optional)
- Child choking (optional)
- Infant choking (optional)
CPR instruction includes high-quality compressions, airway management, breathing, and how to use a mask.
First Aid instruction includes bandaging, bleeding, wounds, choking, shock, seizure, fainting, broken bones, sprains, burns, bites, stings, poison, and temperature-related conditions, to name a few.
Once you begin the course, you’ll have access to the online lessons, videos, manuals and resources for 2 years! And you can start and stop the course at your convenience until you have finished it at your own pace.
Successful completion of the full Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course includes three (3) parts:
- Part 1, Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED online course
- Call in your payment and you will be emailed your online access key
- Parts 2 & 3, an in-person, hands-on skills practice and skills assessment within 60 days of completion of your online course.
- Call 619-469-7109 to schedule your in person skills session during regular business hours any Monday through Friday between 9:30am and 3:00pm.
- After you successfully complete all 3 parts, you will receive your corresponding course completion card, valid for two years.
- Skills sessions must be completed within 60 days of completing the online Part 1.
